I've been apprehensive about trying this place. But today we had delicious food and a great chef Mario. Honestly for $40 to get salmon, New York steak, salad and soup... that's deal these days. We cracked up and the kids loved it. Our food was bomb! Ask for Mario, the other guys look boring. But pleaseeeee update the ambiance! This place would be so awesome if the vibes were better with the decor and "run down" look was updated. Mainly the reason we haven't come before.

My finance and have been talking about Teppan/Hibachi all week; we happen to live in Thousand Oaks with limited options for this type of food. Yamato in agoura has closed down and Benihana has also closed down. We saw the reviews and how many starts this place has and it almost deterred us from trying Cho Cho San but we decided to take a chance. The food was fantastic! We decided to go with Teppan and ordered the combo of New York strip and shrimp. The dressing for the salad that comes with the meal was slightly different than what I've had but I really enjoyed it; it has orange notes in the sauce which I loved. The miso soup was also different but fantastic. As for the sauces, I do think the white sauce was a little on the sweet side and I prefer it less sweet. However, that is the only complaint I have. The food, service and ambiance were wonderful and I will absolutely be returning. Thanks for a great experience Cho Cho San

This is a Thousand Oaks staple. Been here for a long time and I've always enjoyed the sushi here. The Teppanyaki is good here too, but I've had better. I'm going to stick to the sushi whenever I visit this spot. Great rolls and fun spot to sit at the sushi bar.

One of my favorite sushi restaurants here in the county. The Ken's special is a must try. My son loves the rock shrimp. We have visited this location quite a few times and service is always great. I love the atmosphere great for groups or date night.

Well first of all, if you've never been to one of these places, don't think you're going to have a quiet and relaxing dinner. This is a fast paced, loud, and always moving environment. It's about the spectacle and show as much as the food. The food is good. It's not gourmet and high end. I had the steak, but didn't opt for the filet. I'd hope that would be better, but the steak was good enough and I didn't want to spend the extra $. The soup and salad are ok and basic. The soup is broth with some onions and I think a mushroom in there and the salad dressing was good. In addition to steak, I had scallops and my gorgeous date had shrimp, so we could have some of each. Again, they were good. They were not huge succulent shrimp like you'd get at a seafood restaurant, but they were tasty. Fried rice is always good, and I love all of the grilled veggies. The chef was pleasant enough and the server was always around asking if we needed anything. These places have been the same for decades, and it would be neat to see them innovate a bit. Maybe some different veggies, or shake up the "show" a bit? This is good for a once a year visit.
